“In Search of Destiny “is not merely a documentary but a portrayal of life of those people whose search for destiny begins and ends in water. The busy or lavish city life style does not bother them as their day starts and ends at one place, the Yamuna.
The bosom of mother earth to sleep on is the only comfort they are known off as soft mattresses to sleep on is unattainable. The walls of their shelter is not made up of bricks but enveloped by the particles presents in the air which are covered by the never ending sky as roof. They may be illiterate in a formal sense but they know the perfect path which leads to the search of their destiny that is the river bed of their loving mother ‘Yamuna’. They are named as "Coin Divers" who jump into the Yamuna in search of coins or articles thrown by god-fearing people with the faith that Maa will convert their wishes into reality. But unknowingly they give a source of existence to these coin divers, In Indian Mythology , the Yamuna is a highly revered river which leads to the path of Moksha after death and also it is the source of purifying souls with the power to do so bestowed on her by a ‘Universal Soul’.
In the holy water of Yamuna, people disperse religious articles, precious metals gemstones, and the idols of Hindu gods through which Coin Divers make their living.
On the banks of Yamuna, the last rituals of human existence are also performed which sets free the human soul from their physical world. The coin divers look for their livelihood even in the residue left from that burnt body, which for them are just the ashes from where they might get some coins or ornaments etc. offered as the last homage to the departing soul.
This life of coin divers who are always "In Search of Destiny" in the river beds and banks of the holy river "Yamuna" still poses a mystery of how nature continues to attract people and continues to provide sustenance from its limitless resources.
